From Northeast teams involved in the GEICO Lacrosse Showcase, to players and coaches reaching milestones for their programs, this week’s Northeast Notebook has a little of everything.
This week’s Northeast Region notebook takes a look at a meeting of Long Island powerhouses, an inter-state meeting between New York and Connecticut and dives into some of the Massachusetts programs off to hot starts.
A huge update today as 136 entries are made in the 2019 High School Stat Leaders. Tanner Pohl from The First Academy (Fla.) and Nick Whittall from Murrieta Mesa (Calif.) leads the way with 14 points each in the last week. There are three faceoff men who went perfect from the X and Bill Bernal from Pennington has two entries of 27 saves.
Today’s Stylax Stat Leader highlights feature a championship performance, a season-high in Massachusetts and two perfect faceoff men. Also today, Darien (Conn.) and Derryfield (N.H.) make national history in the Northeast.
With three goals and one assist in a 10-9 win over Valor Christian (Colo.), Pure became the first player in Colorado history to score 400 points in a career. Among today’s Honorable Mentions are players from St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), Severn (Md.), Centennial (Ga.), Ward Melville (N.Y.), Gonzaga (D.C.), Manhasset (N.Y.), Wando (S.C.), Notre Dame Prep (Ariz.) and Penn Charter (Pa.).
In addition to the usual Stylax Stat Leader update, today also includes some highlights from the players included on the list. This includes Dylan Wolfe and John Collier figuring in a majority of their team’s goals on Friday.
Under Armour announced today the rosters of boys who will represent the Long Island region at the 2017 Under Armour Underclass Lacrosse Tournament. Eleven players from Chaminade (N.Y.) and six from St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), including Brennan O’Neill (pictured) lead the way.
