Norfolk Academy announced on August 1 that Duquette would be stepping down as head coach. Duquette started coaching at Norfolk Academy in 1982 and won 529 games. He has led teams to seven state championships; 13 Virginia Prep League Championships. In his 42 years of coaching, Duquette has never had a losing season.
Duquette started his coaching career at St. Anne's-Belfield (Va.) in 1975 and coached until 1978. He moved on to the University of Virginia as an assistant from 1978 to 1981.
Ryan Tucker Named Head Coach
Norfolk Academy announced Ryan Tucker as Duquette's successor. Tucker played at Gilman (Md.) before attending the University of Virginia. He was a member of the U-19 National Team, where Duquette coached him.
Tucker is a teacher at Norfolk Academy and was recently honored at Teacher of the Year by his middle school students. The former Gilman star was one of 40 players named to the inaugural Warrior 40, which LaxRecords Founder Mike Loveday helped form in 2011.
Tucker was an All-MIAA and Baltimore Sun All-Met selection his senior year at Gilman. The midfielder scored 46 goals, 20 assists and added 124 ground balls for the Greyhounds. He helped lead Gilman to the 2011 MIAA A Conference championship with 25 goals, seven assists and 51 ground balls as a senior.
You Can Make a Difference
When I founded LaxRecords.com, I could have made it into a for-profit company, but I wanted to create something different - there's plenty of recruiting coverage available. I've worked hard over the last four years to keep all content free and open to everyone. My promise to you is that I will never charge for access to the content on LaxRecords.com.
I believe LaxRecords.com is something special. It is like a library or Wikipedia. A place to discover the history of lacrosse. To my knowledge, I am the only person doing this work in lacrosse.
If everyone reading this donated, my fundraiser work would be done within an hour. But not everyone can or will donate. And that's fine.
This year, please consider making a donation of $5, $20, $50 or whatever you can to protect and sustain LaxRecords.com. Can't afford that amount? How about $2 per month? I created a way to make a monthly, recurring donation. If you donate $2 per month, that's $24 per year. Added up over many of you, that makes a huge difference and helps continue improvements.
