According to the DelcoTimes, Haverford School (Pa.) head coach John Nostrant will step down as head coach following the 2019 season.
Nostrant has been the Fords head coach for 27 years and won 475 games and 16 Inter-Ac championships. He led the program to undefeated seasons in 2011 and 2015 and were considered the consensus No. 1 team in each of those years by lacrosse media. Haverford was the ESPN High School POWERADE National Champion after the 2011 season in which they went 23-0.
Nostrant coached one season at St. Albans (D.C.) in 1991 before taking over the Haverford School head coaching job in 1992. He already stepped down as the school’s athletic director and will mentor the new coach for one season before stepping down.
Nostrant is adamant that he’s not done coaching. On either the club, high school or even college scene, he’s not likely to have a shortage of offers for his expertise.
He is No. 2 all-time in Pennsylvania for the most wins in a career. Entering his final season as Fords' head coach, Nostrant is among the Top 25 all-time for wins. His 16 championships place him among the most successful high school coaches of all time when you factor in state and penultimate conference championships.
I will continue to coach Haverford lacrosse in the upcoming year and will work to ensure that the new head coach is someone who will uphold the values that are so dear to Haverford, and to me. The team and the program are in great shape," Nostrant said in a press release from the school.
"As I reflect on my 27 years of coaching lacrosse at Haverford, I feel fortunate. I’ve enjoyed working with coaches, with admissions, and with the administration to find the right kids … the kids who love what Haverford has to offer in the classroom and on the playing fields. Athletics is a subset of what life truly is all about: you have to work well with others and collaborate, you have to find your role and adapt, you have to have open lines of communication.

You Can Make a Difference
When I founded LaxRecords.com, I could have made it into a for-profit company, but I wanted to create something different - there's plenty of recruiting coverage available. I've worked hard over the last four years to keep all content free and open to everyone. My promise to you is that I will never charge for access to the content on LaxRecords.com.
I believe LaxRecords.com is something special. It is like a library or Wikipedia. A place to discover the history of lacrosse. To my knowledge, I am the only person doing this work in lacrosse.
If everyone reading this donated, my fundraiser work would be done within an hour. But not everyone can or will donate. And that's fine.
This year, please consider making a donation of $5, $20, $50 or whatever you can to protect and sustain LaxRecords.com. Can't afford that amount? How about $2 per month? I created a way to make a monthly, recurring donation. If you donate $2 per month, that's $24 per year. Added up over many of you, that makes a huge difference and helps continue improvements.
